Tree Victory!

A resident of Hampton Road informed us that 150 residents of his community challenged the council to plant trees on their road several years ago, .  He was the leader behind the demand to the council and was appalled at the failure to include their road within any tree planting schemes - this despite the illustrated huge support.

Whilst Canvassing Wilson Chowdhry candiadte for Clementswood ward was asked to challenge the trees section, to enact the broken promises and lacklustre efforts of former councillors.

Today a small victory was achieved,  a response from the trees section said;

"Further our conversation earlier today, I have now added Hampton Road to our proposed list regarding the 2014/2015 tree planting season. We usually start looking for roads mid-June, but I can now add Hampton Road to the list with a few others from additional requests."

Wilson Chowdhry said;

"Redbridge Council's initial failure to respond to this supported demand, is disappointing.  Funding exists for the planting of trees and any request direct from residents should be supported wholeheartedly.  Climate change is a real and present danger and we must do all we can to preserve our earth."
